AUgust 2025 President's Letter

Dear Harvard Club of Dallas Community,

It is with gshikha-sethireat enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 Harvard Club of Dallas year! As we look ahead, there is tremendous opportunity—not only in the programs and gatherings we will share, but also in the unique moment Dallas finds itself in. Our city is rapidly becoming a financial hub, drawing new Harvard graduates and alumni professionals alike. This momentum gives us an extraordinary chance to grow, to welcome, and to strengthen our community in exciting new ways.

Before we look forward, I want to pause and extend heartfelt thanks to David Roosevelt for his incredible leadership over the past year. David guided the Club with steadiness, creativity, and care—strengthening our efforts and ensuring members felt connected and inspired. His dedication leaves us well-positioned for what comes next, and I am deeply grateful.

Early fall brings an outstanding lineup of events that reflect the breadth and spirit of our Club:

Fireside Chat: “Insider China Story Like No Other”
Wednesday, September 10, 2025 | 7:00–8:30 pm — In person

Dallas native Patrick Jenevein will share the remarkable story of his ventures in China, from early entrepreneurial breakthroughs to the challenges of navigating government oversight. His account includes time spent in a remote detention facility—an extraordinary perspective on resilience, risk-taking, and the realities of doing business abroad. Guiding the conversation will be Ambassador Robert Jordan, former U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and a seasoned voice in global affairs. Expect a night that is both gripping and enlightening.

A Conversation with Provost John Manning AB ’82, JD ’85
Thursday, September 25, 2025 | 7:00–9:00 pm (Doors open at 6:30) — Fairmont Dallas

We are honored to host Provost Manning, Harvard’s chief academic officer and one of its most respected voices on constitutional law. In this intimate gathering, he will share insights into Harvard’s academic priorities, challenges, and opportunities ahead. The discussion will be moderated by Juan Antonio Sepúlveda Jr. AB ’85, member of the Board of Overseers, ensuring a thoughtful and engaging evening. With the elegant setting of the Fairmont Dallas as our backdrop, this event will combine intellectual dialogue with the joy of alumni connection. John Harvard and Summa patron members and selected guests are invited to a cocktail reception prior to the event at the Fairmont Dallas.

Welcome to Your City: Dallas
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 | 6:00–8:00 pm — In person

This signature event, part of a global Harvard tradition, is designed to bring together recent graduates and alumni who are new to our city. It’s a chance to build friendships, expand professional networks, and feel instantly at home in Dallas. Whether you’re reconnecting with old classmates or meeting someone for the first time, the evening will highlight the warmth and openness that define our Harvard Club community.

These three gatherings capture the spirit of who we are: globally minded, academically engaged, and deeply committed to one another. And they’re only the beginning of what promises to be a memorable year.

I invite you to join us, to share your ideas, and to bring your energy to this next chapter. Whether it’s through attending an event, volunteering, interviewing, or simply renewing your membership, your involvement makes the Harvard Club of Dallas not just strong, but vibrant.

I cannot wait to see many of you this fall and to celebrate another exciting year together.

With gratitude and excitement,
Shikha Sethi, AB 1993
President, Harvard Club of Dallas
