December 2024 President's Letter

Dear Members of the Harvard Club of Dallas,

d.roosevelt

As we approach the close of 2024, I write in this month’s President’s letter with a heartfelt appeal that reflects the spirit of community and generosity we all cherish. This month, we have an opportunity to honor someone who played an integral role in our club's success for over three decades—our longtime administrator, LaRee Bryant.

From 1981 to her retirement in 2015, LaRee was the backbone of the Harvard Club of Dallas and the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas. Her dedication and steady leadership ensured our clubs thrived, growing into some of the most recognized and vibrant alumni organizations in Harvard’s global network. Sadly, LaRee recently passed away after a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to the Harvard community and countless lives she touched with her kindness and commitment.

To honor her remarkable contributions, we have partnered with the HBS Club of Dallas to launch the LaRee Bryant Homestead Fund, a GoFundMe initiative to assist her family. LaRee’s daughter, Laura Crawford, has inherited her home and plans to move in with her own daughter and three grandchildren—LaRee’s great-grandchildren. However, the home requires significant renovations to accommodate the family. With the help of a trusted family friend, the renovations can be completed for $13,000, covering only the cost of supplies and basic labor.

How You Can Help: We invite you to join us in reaching this goal by contributing to the fund. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Donors will be recognized in a special remembrance of LaRee, and a photo of her will be displayed in the renovated home as a lasting tribute to her legacy. Please note that contributions to this fund are personal gifts and are not tax-deductible.

While LaRee requested no formal funeral or memorial, her daughter Laura plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. In the meantime, for those wishing to send cards or condolences, you may mail them to Laura at LaRee’s home at 3817 Yellowstone, Irving, TX 75062.

This effort is a joint initiative led by the Harvard Club of Dallas and the HBS Club of Dallas, driven by the vision and leadership of our Director Emeritus and Past President, Dulany Howland, along with Brian Buffington, President of the HBS Club of Dallas. Together, we aim to honor LaRee’s memory and support her family in their time of need.

LaRee was a cornerstone of our community, and this fundraiser is a heartfelt way to give back to someone who gave so much to us. Thank you for considering this opportunity to celebrate her legacy and show our gratitude for her many years of service.

In fellowship,

David Roosevelt
