** Early Bird Ticket Deadline: Sun., Sept. 18 at noon

We hope you can join us to celebrate the start of fall, get together with old friends and new, and honor our Summer Community Service Fellow, Taryn Riddle. Taryn will be in town and will tell us about her summer project at Veritas Impact Partners. Jennifer Searles, CEO of Veritas Impact Partners, will tell us about their work and mission, and the important contributions that Taryn has made during her summer project.

Each year, the Harvard Club of Dallas Provides a Summer Community Service Fellowship that sponsors a Harvard Undergrad to spend the summer in Dallas working with a local non-profit. We have a fund, which we call The Betsey Bradley and Hal Urschel MD Community Service Fund, through which we pay the undergraduate. This allows any student, regardless of their financial position, to be able to use their summer break time to give back to our local community in Dallas. Each year our partner non-profits tell us they benefit considerably from the work of these bright, enthusiastic, and energetic young people. Our club is pleased to help allow this to happen.

We are grateful to Alex Calle for providing us a venue on the new, modern and elegant rooftop deck at TBK Bank, Park Cities location. To keep everyone comfortable, there is indoor and outdoor space, misting spaces and firepits (should we dare to dream for cooler weather). Hors d'oeuvres, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. There are also putting greens should anyone like a little friendly competition.

To help support future Urschel Summer Fellows, Sponsorship tickets are available. Sponsors will be recognized at the event. (Please let us know if you wish to remain anonymous).

Born and raised in the DFW area, Taryn is a rising sophomore in Currier house at Harvard University, and interned with Veritas Impact Partners through the Harvard Club of Dallas Urschel Service Fellowship. Her academic interests are focused on social entrepreneurship, specifically the capability of both nonprofits and for-profit organizations to contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals. She enjoys studying this on a macro scale (international development and poverty economics) and on a micro scale (gaining experience with executive management of organizations/businesses, working with projects on Sustainable Development Goals). With a global context in mind, she is majoring in both Economics and South Asian Studies as well as an Arabic minor at Harvard, and really enjoys learning languages and traveling. She has studied Hindi for 7 years, and attended school in Pune, India for 7 weeks in summer 2019. Outside of academics, she can be found playing cello in Harvard's Bach Society orchestra, traveling and directing Model UN conferences, and engaging in Alpha Phi sorority events. She is also the President of Harvard Texas Club, and so grateful for this opportunity to work with the HCD.

Jennifer Searles is CEO of Veritas Impact Partners. With 19 years of non-profit leadership, Jennifer brings a wealth of expertise and compassion to Veritas. She is mission-driven with a strong core value that is the backbone of her innovative, radical resident engagement approach—one-to-one relationships are essential. Jennifer knows that every strategy she implements is for the larger cause of betterment for the Veritas residents—every choice she makes is an opportunity to change someone’s life. Often called a matchmaker, Jennifer instinctively inspires connections between those fortunate and compassionately moved to assist others and the needs of the residents she serves.
