Born in Brownsville, Texas, Fernando grew up amidst humble resources in Matamoros, Mexico, crossing the border daily for school in both countries. After graduating from Harvard College, and working as an analyst at Goldman Sachs, Fernando returned to Texas and started investing in real estate. Today, Leon Capital Group is a diversified holding company that manages over $10 billion of private family capital through active investments, ownership and operation of leading businesses in the financial services, healthcare, real estate, and technology industries. In 2025, Fernando was honored with the Horatio Alger Award that honors those few who have overcome adversity to achieve extraordinary success and embody the American Dream. The Harvard Club of Dallas has had many traditions during its 111 years. None is as old or as long-running as our annual mid-winter dinner, traditionally celebrated during February. Though slightly different formats have been tried over the years, one thing has remained constant: it is always a wonderful evening of camaraderie and networking. If you don't come with friends, you will most definitely leave with friends.
