Intersection of Art, Architecture and Religion
The Harvard Club is embarking on a new mobile tour program in which we will hear from the leaders of various religious structures on how their buildings and artwork combine to further their religious mission, inspire the worship of their people, and reflect their spiritual identity. This program is being organized by the Club’s directors for the schools of Divinity and Design. We invite you to join fellow alumni Reverend Dr. Stephen Arbogast, Dr. Claire Sahlin, Paris Rutherford and Ivan Perez-Rossello at the first tour of this series to the Hanuman Hindu Temple in Frisco on Saturday, May 3rd at 10am. We will be met by the temple’s leadership and architect for this conversation, and will have an informal lunch at a nearby restaurant afterwards.
We warmly invite you to join The Art Circle, an art and architecture appreciation group founded at the Harvard Club of Dallas, for a special guided visit to the Hanuman Temple in Frisco on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
The Art Circle is a monthly gathering of Harvard alumni and friends passionate about exploring museums, galleries, sacred spaces, and artist studios. Our mission is to foster cultural learning and build community through shared experiences with the arts.
This event is being graciously organized by Reverend Dr. Stephen Arbogast, Chaplain at St. Mark’s School of Texas, in collaboration with The Art Circle, the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) Architecture Appreciation Group, and the Harvard Divinity School alumni community. Together, we will explore the intersection of art, architecture, and religion through this unique cultural experience.
The visit will include a guided tour of the Hanuman Temple’s striking architecture, with potential insights from the temple's architect and members of the religious community. An optional group lunch will follow.
