March Book Club Meeting
The next meeting of the Book Club will be on Wednesday, March 12, 7:30 p.m. at the home of Lee Loewenstein. We will discuss The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain. Often considered Twain's masterpiece, and frequently banned, Huckleberry Finn tells the picaresque story of a boy's escape from his abusive father and "civilization," along with an escaped slave, Jim, down the Mississippi River.
The Book Club generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month. For those who like to read ahead, our April book will be James by Percival Everett. This is a modern retelling of the Huckleberry Finn story from the point of view of Jim, or James, the enslaved black man.
