LONE STAR RACING FAQ

Who can attend? Over 21 only.

Ticket Information? Order your tickets through the HCD website. Tickets must be ordered no later than Thursday June 8. Attendance is limited to the first 24. We will email your ticket(s) to your well prior to the race.

Where is Lone Star Park? 1000 Lone Star Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.

When is HCD Racecday? How Long does the day last? Saturday June 24. Gates open at 12 PM. First live race is at 1:30. The last race concludes about 6 pm. I will email your admission pass(es) to you with your table number so you can arrive and leave when you wish.

How much does it cost and what does that price include? $65 per person which includes admission to the Silks Club, all you can eat buffet, non-alcoholic beverages, access to a mutuel teller (person walking around taking wagers at the table) and a full HD screen at the table. There are salads and pasta options, but I suggest you contact the track (972.263.7223) directly for specific dietary questions.

Are there other beverage options? Yes, a full bar is available. Please carry your own tab. There is no group tab.

Do I have to know anything about horse racing to have a good time? Absolutely not. You need not gamble if you wish, just watch racing and people watch. Your host, Ray Loggins, is a long-time horse racing aficionado and he’ll help you get acclimated.

What is the Day at the Races like? Arrive on your own and park ($10). With your ticket(s) proceed to the 4th level and find the Harvard tables. Order a drink. Help yourself to the buffet – Carving station, pasta, breakfast bar, desert bar, ice cream. Place a bet if you wish. There will be 10 races about ½ hour apart. Watch the races from the panoramic view from your table or on the HD screen at your table. Watch the jockeys saddle in the paddock. Scream for your horses to win! Cash winning tickets. Leave when you wish.

How should I dress? We are in a fully air-conditioned space. I suggest either Sunday Attire or Racetrack Fashion - big hats/fascinators & colorful dresses for the ladies, bow ties and straw hats for gentlemen. Western attire is also appropriate. No shorts and flip flops please.

What is the Track featuring on our racing day? It is the annual Turf Festival so we will see racing on the Park’s Turf Course. There will be four Stakes Races (higher quality horses). Where can I get additional information? Check out the Track’s website here.

Anything else I need to know? Binoculars are optional. You will want a program ($5 available at the Track on online).

What’s the best way to pick a winning horse? I have a proprietary algorithm that incorporates information about breeding, performance, jockey history, likely wind currents and planetary alignment. My mother-in-law has better results betting on the color outfit the jockey is wearing.
