October Book Club Meeting
The Book Club will next meet on Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m., with discussion led by Lida Roman and hosted by Susan Bowman. We will discuss The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos. The Mambo Kings won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1990, making Hijuelos the first Hispanic recipient of the award. It remains relevant today, with the story's themes of cultural fusion and identity. The meeting will take place at the home of Susan Bowman. RSVP to Susan at scbowman@mcare.com. The Book Club generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month. For those who like to read ahead, our November book will be The Missing Pages by Alyson Richman.
