Community Matters:
Transforming Early Childhood Development Through Science,
Community, and Innovation
The rapidly increasing scientific understanding of how early life experiences affect the foundations of health and development has led to the creation of a new initiative at Harvard University focused on Connecting Science and Community. Early Childhood Development (ECD) 2.0 offers a promising framework for rethinking how we can generate larger returns on investments in the origins of human potential. ECD 2.0 is based on advances in the biology of adversity, adaptation, and resilience, and leverages cutting-edge science to guide policies and programs toward new strategies that can achieve larger benefits for more young children and the adults who care for them.
The Dallas Foundation has proudly been a catalyst for and significant investor in early childhood development across Dallas for almost two decades and we are excited to invite fundholders and special community partners to hear this fresh perspective and forward-thinking approach to early childhood development.
Please join us for this unique opportunity to hear one the leading thought leaders in this field and the director of the ECD 2.0 Initiative, Jack Shonkoff, M.D., Julius B. Richmond FAMRI Professor of Child Health and Development at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Graduate School of Education; Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital; and Founding Director of the university-wide Center on the Developing Child at Harvard.
Following Dr. Shankoff’s remarks, Dallas Foundation Chief Impact Officer Vickie Allen will moderate a fireside chat between he and Alan Cohen, Founder & CEO of the Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL).
Tickets are limited, so be sure to register early!
