Privateprivate-equity equity has become more well known than ever before as a preferred investment option for investors, and a career path for young professionals. At the same time, there are many misconceptions about the industry and unknowns about where it may be heading.
 

In this panel discussion, with leading investors who have varied perspectives on the industry, we will explore current trends, opportunities and challenges facing the world of PE. We will discuss implications for individual investors and professionals who work, or want to work, in the industry.
 

The panel will be moderated by David Schnabel (MBA 1998), Managing Partner, Phoenix Strategy Investments.

About the Panel

David Schnabel (Moderator), Managing Partner, Phoenix Strategy Investments. Mr. Schnabel (HBS’98) has over 20 years of private equity experience, leading acquisitions, co-investing directly into transactions, and functioning as a PE-backed business operator and board member. His experience spans industries (from tech to consumer) and deal types (including buyouts, recaps, search funds, and exits), with a focus on growth.
 

John Jaggers (MBA 1979), General Partner, Sevin Rosen Funds. Mr. Jaggers spent most of his 40-year career in venture capital as a general partner at Sevin Rosen Funds.  Sevin Rosen, a venture capital firm based in Dallas and Palo Alto, invested $1.5B across 9 funds, all focused on very early-stage technology companies.  Starting as an investor and board member, Mr. Jaggers in 1994 became managing general partner dealing with all administrative, financial, and legal aspects of the firm.  He has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies and non-profits, including the National Venture Capital Association.
 

Yoo Jin Kim (MBA 1998), Partner, Lee Equity. Mr. Kim, a founding partner of Lee Equity Partners, has worked in the PE industry for 30 years. Lee Equity, a growth buyout firm, with over $5 billion AUM, focuses on lower middle market investments in healthcare and financial/insurance services. Prior to joining Lee Equity, Mr. Kim was a principal at Bain Capital. He currently serves, or has served, on the boards of Aimbridge Hospitality, Alliance Corporation, Discovery Senior Living, and others.
 

Craig Swann, CFA, Managing Director - Investments - Wells Fargo Advisors. Mr. Swann (CFA®) has nearly 30 years of financial advisory and asset management experience. He helps clients evaluate and execute investment strategies, across a range of asset classes, and helps tailor portfolios to meet individual investor objectives. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Advisors, Mr. Swann worked for firms including JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Pinebridge Investments.
