October Book Club Meeting

The October meeting of the Book Club will be on Wednesday, October 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Susan Jennings. Appropriately for October, this will be a "double-header." Susan will lead us in a discussion of The House of Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Written shortly after The Scarlet Letter, The House of the Seven Gables addresses the theme of human guilt in a style remarkable in both its descriptive virtuosity and its employment of magical realism. We will also discuss A Taste for Death by P.D. James featuring the sleuth Adam Dalgliesh in his quest to solve the double murder of a Cabinet Minister and a vagrant in a church rectory.

Please RSVP to Susan Jennings at granada333@aol.com if you plan on attending. Susan will provide her address to any newcomers. Please bring a mask.

The Book Club generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month. For those who like to read ahead, our November book will be Owls of the Eastern Ice by Jonathan Slaght.
