June Book Club Meeting
The June meeting of the Book Club will be on Wednesday, June 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Susan Jennings (4001 Miramar Avenue, Highland Park, Texas).
We will discuss The Quiet American, by Graham Greene. Narrated in the first person by journalist Thomas Fowler, The Quiet American depicts the breakdown of French colonialism in Vietnam and early American involvement in the Vietnam War. The novel implicitly questions the foundations of growing American involvement in Vietnam in the 1950s and has received much attention due to its prediction of the outcome of the Vietnam War and subsequent American foreign policy since the 1950s.
Please note that the Book Club generally meets on the second Wednesday of each month, but this month's meeting will be the third Wednesday.
