Jacques Marquis was named CEO and President of the Cliburn in 2013. Since then, he has led the foundation's prestigious International Van Cliburn Piano Competition, the Cliburn Concert Series, the Amateur and Junior Cliburn Piano Competitions, as well as successful community outreach programs. Marquis was a formidable presence in Montreal before assuming leadership of the Cliburn. He served as head of the Montreal International Musical Competition, general director of the Orchestre Métropolitain, and administrative and artistic head of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Prior to his work as an arts administrator, Marquis trained as a pianist at the Université de Montreal.
